Laurel Ann Wiese, 80, of Horicon passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac with her daughters by her side.
A visitation was held on Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville. A Department of Wisconsin VFW Auxiliary Memorial Service took place at 6 p.m. Friends paid their respects on Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon before the funeral service for Laurel at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel Seehafer officiating. Interment took place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon.
Laurel was born the daughter of Loran F. and Lorene A. (Wagner) Patten on November 19, 1944. She was a 1962 graduate of Horicon High School. Laurel had worked at Affiliated Products after her retirement from Mayville Metal. She was a former Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Wisconsin President, serving from 1993-94 and again from 2018-2019. She was also a National Council Member for the VFW Auxiliary from 2023-2024. Laurel was a faithful member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon.
In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, reading, doing puzzles, and she liked playing games and watching videos on her phone. She surely will be missed.
Laurel is survived by her daughters, Sherrie (John) Rosenau of Van Dyne and Debbie (Wally) Ballard of North Carolina; her brother, David C. (Wendy) Patten of Huntsville, AL; her grandchildren, Eric (Ashley) Boeck, David (Khrystyna) Rosenau, Jackson Rosenau, Alex (Nora) Rosenau, Zach Rosenau, Adam (Jordan) Rosenau, Jonathan Eilbes, and Laura (Michael) Watkins; her great-grandchildren, Aden, Ava, Austin, Dexton, Johnny, Dmitri, Cameron, Keegan, Parker, Bridgette, Ryan, and Weston; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her former husband John Kolb, Sr.
