Donald P. Ernisse, 85, of Campbellsport went to join the love of his life Shirley in heaven on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa with his family gathered around him. He was born in West Bend on September 4, 1938, the son of Melvin and Florence (Galabinski) Ernisse. Donnie proudly served in the United States Army as an amphibious vehicle driver from 1956 to 1958. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal and Carbine Expert badge. On May 12, 1962, Donnie was united in marriage to Shirley Theisen at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eden. He worked at Kieckhafer Mercury and Gehl Company, retiring as a proud member of the Hexel Bank Club. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church and a lifelong member of the Sno Cougar Snowmobile Club. Donnie enjoyed camping with the family, vacationing out West, hunting, fishing, casino trips, and was a die-hard Packer fan. Most important to Donnie was time spent with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and taking his grandson to school at St. Matthew’s. Survivors include his children, Randy (Suzanne) Ernisse, Shelly (Dan) Salter, Rick Ernisse; grandchildren, Miranda Ernisse, Priscilla (Jordan) Ernisse, Ashley (Ryan) Lindsley, Dustin (Heather) Salter, and Easton Ernisse; great-grandchildren Jack, Charlie, Millie, and Laylin; his sister, Phyllis Faber; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Darlene Ernisse, Lloyd and Janet Fellenz, Pat and Bill Wettstein, Catherine and Roger Lahm, Judy Theisen, and Cheryl Theisen, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Donnie was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, on May 2, 2021; his parents, Melvin and Florence; in-laws, Henry and Viola Theisen; sisters, Delores Bandle, Marian Wojtalewicz, Betty Ann Fellenz; brother, Merlin (Sam) Ernisse; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Melvin Ebert, Elroy Bandle, Melvin Martin, Ben Wojtalewicz, Eugene Faber, James, Joseph and Daniel Theisen, Bonnie Immel; nieces and nephew, Cheryl Ann Ebert, Heidi Theisen, and Kyle Theisen. Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 1, from 3 p.m. until time of Mass at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 406 E. Main St. Campbellsport. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Jones officiating. Entombment will take place on Friday, Aug. 2, in Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du Lac. Donnie will forever be remembered for his bright smile and laughter. The family would like to extend their immense gratitude to the Campbellsport ambulance crew and First Responders, SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital Emergency Room staff, Flight For Life medical crew, and Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Deputy Olson for their rapid response, care and compassion.
