Rose Mary (Brill) Lackas, age 87, passed away on April 13, 2023, in Campbellsport after a lengthy battle with Multiple Myeloma.Rose was born on May 4, 1935, in Ashford to John and Mary (Zweck) Brill. She married the love of her life, Don Lackas, on September 3, 1955, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Ashford.Rose filled her life with music, family and community. Growing up, she enjoyed singing and playing music with her parents, sister and brother. Rose sang in the St. Matthew’s Catholic Church choir for over 50 years. She also shared her love of music with her children. Every family vacation included campfire sing-a-longs and rowdy renditions of “My Red Wagon” during car rides. While her husband, Don, served with the Campbellsport Fire Department, Rose helped establish the CFD Auxiliary in 1980. Rose was an active part of the Christian Women’s Society and she volunteered at the St. Matthew’s Parish Center for many years. She also donated many hours of her time with the annual St. Matthew’s Fall Festival and CFD 4th of July Picnic.Rose is survived by her loving husband, Don, of 67 years; her 11 children, Bonnie (Terry) Debroux, Mary (Rod) Baumhardt, Sharon (John) Schwartz, Judy (Rick) Sarauer, Donna (Peter) Schmidt, Kay (Dave) Hensen, Lisa (Steve) Hensen, Carol (John) Mitton, Amy Lackas, Bill (Amy) Lackas and Jim Lackas; 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. William “Billy” Joseph Mayer, 33, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023, at St. Agnes Hospital from injuries due to a motorcycle accident. He was born in Fond du Lac on August 19,1989, the son of Michael and Lori (Bassill) Mayer. Billy was a 2008 graduate of Campbellsport High School, where he was active in football, baseball and wrestling in which he was a State Champion. He was a 2013 graduate of UW LaCrosse, where he was a three-time All American in Wrestling HWT. Billy was employed at Greymont in Marblehead. He loved hunting and fishing, but mostly just being outdoors. Barbara S. Jaeger, 79, formerly of Ashford, went to her heavenly reward on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lomira with her loving family gathered around her. Barbara was born the daughter of Roland “Smokey” and Dorothy (nee Majerus) Comins on February 13, 1944, in Osceola Township. As a child she lived in the Townships of Osceola and Eden. She was a 1962 graduate of Campbellsport High School; she graduated from Moraine Park Technical College with a degree in Licensed Practical Nursing in 1963.Barbara was united in marriage to Gerald P. Jaeger on July 11, 1964, at St. Martin’s Church in Ashford; when she started her career as a farm wife and partner, raising a family in the Town of Ashford. She was a faithful member of St. Martins Parish and loved to sing in the choir. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her family, siblings, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed dancing. Eileen I. Flasch, 96, formerly of Campbellsport, went to her heavenly home on Friday, April, 7, 2023, with her loving family gathered around her at Ripon Community Hospital. She was born October 3, 1926, the daughter of Frank and Annselma (Kehrmeyer) Schabel. On May 24, 1952, Eileen married Roland A. Flasch at St. Andrew’s Church, LeRoy. Together, she and Roland farmed in the St. Kilian area where they raised their 14 children.Eileen was a member of St. Kilian Catholic Church and St. Matthew Catholic Church, Campbellsport. She enjoyed playing sheepshead, jigsaw and sudoko puzzles, and popcorn. Raymond O. Maurer, 78, of Campbellsport, had his “last at bat and headed home” with his beloved family gathered around him on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton.He was born in West Bend on January 15, 1945, the son of LeRoy and Ione (nee Wendt) Maurer. On August 21, 1965, Ray was united in marriage to Elaine Uelmen at Holy Angels Church in West Bend. Ray and Elaine have four children: Michelle, Brenda, Ray, and Penny.Ray was an estimator and truck driver for Cedarburg Lumber for 28 dedicated years. He then worked as a dump truck driver for Krebs Trucking. In his earlier years, he enjoyed working at Badger Packaging. Ray was also a Campbellsport Election Poll Worker for several years during his retirement.Ray was a legend on the pitcher’s mound and an avid softball player. He played softball for many years with numerous teams where he made many lifelong friendships. He played until a hip replacement sidelined him in his mid 60s. Ray took his family along for the evening games, Sunday games at Alligator Park, and weekend tournaments at various ballparks throughout the State. Ray often talked about his great memories of The Lighthouse Lanes team taking a bus trip to play in a world class softball tournament in North Carolina. Those softball games brought a “softball family” into Ray’s life and his family’s lives. At his last hospitalization, Ray proudly shared with staff about his love for the game and how proud and grateful he was for the opportunities and experiences softball brought to his life.For over 30 years, Ray was a member and on the Board of Directors of Wings Over Wisconsin, Eden Chapter, and was instrumental in starting the Action Trackchair program with Wings, which enables people with handicaps or disabilities to enjoy hunting and provide the ability to experience the outdoors. He was a proud supporter of many fundraisers and had a deep passion for raffles, with his latest raffle entry being placed during this last hospitalization. Ray also appreciated going for country drives; traveling with family to Arkansas to visit his family members there; and taking his Trike for many drives and to car shows, where he won various trophies. Ray was very proud of his family and loved to share in the experiences of his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Over the last couple years, Ray enjoyed his daily drives to Fond du Lac visiting with Elaine and the other residents. Those visits will be missed dearly by Elaine. Ray was an avid reader of mystery books, was a great storyteller with a wonderful sense of humor, and a true lover of life. Ray lived a wonderful, full life and made fond memories with his children, grandchildren, great-grandson, and friends.
