Guy Engelhardt

Guy Richard Engelhardt, 69, died unexpectedly—yet peacefully—Friday, September 10, 2021, at his home in West Bend, Wisconsin. Guy was born on December 28, 1951, in Milwaukee to John and Marjorie (Johnson) Engelhardt. His family moved to West Bend when Guy was a young child. He has been a lifelong member of the community ever since. From the age of five, Guy was devoted to the family dairy distribution business, Engelhardt Dairy of WI. He dedicated his life to growing the company from a small door to door milk delivery operation, to a thriving distribution business—a legacy that made him unbelievably proud. He received a lot of support in growing the company over the past 50 years and he truly appreciated everyone for the part they played in that journey. If you worked at Engelhardt, Guy considered you family. When not at work, he could be found dreaming and planning the next trip with his family or singing along to Jimmy Buffet and classic rock. Guy had a true gift for bringing happiness to all that spent time with him. He loved being surrounded by friends and family, sharing a good meal and a glass of wine. Guy always had a smile on his face, a tap in his toes, and a song in his heart. Most of all, Guy was deeply committed to his wife and family. The accomplishment he relished most was providing them with the foundation and support to fully appreciate and experience life and travel. Guy was married for 49 years to his high school sweetheart, Sandra (Matenaer) Engelhardt. She was his absolute favorite person in the world. They shared a love of travel and had dreams of retiring in Marco Island, FL. Together they had two children: Matthew (Jessica) Engelhardt and Brooke (Justin) Happel; and four grandchildren: Miller Guy Happel, Alice Marjorie Happel, Kellan Thomas Engelhardt, and Celia Belle Engelhardt that were the pride of his life. He is missed by many friends, both personal and professional, who he loved like family. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his favorite sister, Susie (Alex) Kiss; his mother-in-law, Janice (Koth) Matenaer; and his sisters and brothers-in-laws that he loved as though they were his own siblings; beloved nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Guy was preceded in death by his brother, Greg Engelhardt; his parents, John and Marjorie Engelhardt; and his father-in-law, Paul Matenaer. A celebration of Guy’s life—to raise a glass and share a memory or a song in his honor—will be held from 3–6PM on Thursday, November 4th, 2021, at Hon-e-kor Golf Course in Kewaskum, WI. Christine M. Zehren

Christine M. Zehren

Christine M. Zehren, 72, of St. Kilian passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac. She was born in the Town of Ashford on October 15, 1948, the daughter of Clarence “Pat” and Tillie (Pierret) Jaeger. On July 2, 1966, Chris married Mathias J. Thelen at St. Martin’s Church in Ashford. Math preceded her in death on August 13, 1987. Chris married Kenneth L. “Dingles” Zehren on April 6, 1991, at St. Martin’s Church. She worked at Kerry Ingredients in Jackson for five years and at the West Bend Company also for five years. She was a member of the American Legion Post #347 Auxiliary. Chris enjoyed playing cards, gardening, her flower beds and watching the Packers and other sports; but most of all she loved attending her grandchildren’s activities and spending time with them. Survivors include her husband, Ken “Dingles”; sons, Mathias G. (Julie) Thelen and Patrick Thelen; step-children, Stacey Loof, Stephany (Adam) Hettwer and Marcey (Nick) Laudolff; grandchildren, Michaela, Hannah and Jon Thelen, Brianna, Hailley, Autumn and Jayce Loof, Natalie, Ajay, Mason and Tamra Hettwer and Brandon and Nicole Laudolff; siblings, Sister Carol Jaeger, SSSF, Gerald (Barbara) Jaeger and Claudia (Neil) Strassman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom and Diane Zehren, Elaine and Charlie Ertl, Linda Zehren, Myra Zehren, Lizzie Weiland, Delores Spradau and Ruth Lehner; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Along with her first husband, Math, Chris was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tammy Thelen; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard, Larry and Gary Zehren, Eleanor and Hubert Sippel, Leander Weiland, Gilbert Lehner, Jim Heisler and Eldon Spradau. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Sunday, September 19, at 4 p.m. at St. Kilian Catholic Chapel in St. Kilian (N189 County Road W, Campbellsport). Rev. Neil Zinthefer officiate and burial was in St. Martin’s Cemetery in Ashford. Friends and family called at the church before Mass starting at 12 Noon. The family extends a special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Hospice Home of Hope for their wonderful care of Chris during her final months. Wesley Groth

Wesley E. Groth, 77, of Mayville, passed away on August 25, 2021. He was born on November 20, 1943, and was the son of Elnora and Roman Groth. Wes worked and retired from Metalcraft of Mayville. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved spending his time with his friends. His artistic talents with wooden lawn decorations were seen by many. He enjoyed going to many NASCAR events, along with watching his favorite sport teams. He cherished the time watching his grandchildren from Chicago participate in their various activities. Wes will be deeply missed by all. He is survived by his children, Tom Groth and Kathy (Randy) Dahl of Fond du Lac; extended family members, Pete and Bridgette Koziol of Chicago; Grandpa Wes to Zachary Koziol of Chicago and Sophie Koziol of Santa Clara, CA. David M. Beske, 53, of Fox Lake, passed away peacefully into heaven on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, at Waupun Memorial Hospital. David was born on May 30, 1968, the son of Gerhardt and Carol (Collien) Beske in Waupun. He was baptized into Christ on June 23, 1968, at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He confirmed his faith on May 16, 1982, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fox Lake.David attended Waupun High School and graduated in 1986.David was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Markesan, for most of his adult life. David served on the church council, ushered, was a choir member and served on many other committees at church. David also served on the Equity Lomira Board of Directors.He enjoyed deer hunting and spending time with his nephews and niece.David had a passion for farming and farmed for over 30 years with his brother Kevin at Beske Brothers Farms. David loved socializing and spending time with family and friends.David is survived by his mother, Carol Beske of Fox Lake; his brothers, Steve (Aneta) Beske of Greenfield, Kevin (Sue) Beske of Markesan, and Glenn Beske of North Fond du Lac; his nephews, James Beske and Seth Beske; his niece, Jenna Beske; his aunt, Donna Beske; uncle, Arlen Schellpfeffer; other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his father, Gerhardt Beske, and his grandparents.A visitation will be held at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Friday, Sept. 24, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., and also on Saturday, Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10 a.m. from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Markesan. Marilyn B. Christian, 93, of Hartford passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at the Waterford in Hartford.Marilyn was born the daughter of Adolph and Viola (Beck) Wendegatz on November 11, 1927. She was united in marriage to Arnold Christian on November 2, 1946, in the Township of Herman. Marilyn worked various part-time jobs and retired from the Mayville School District, where she worked in food service and as a custodian. She also helped farm with her husband in the Township of Theresa.She was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was active in the choir and the Immanuel Ladies Aid (Immanuel Lights). She also took part in Farm Bureau and 4-H and also the Mayville Senior Center and Iron Ridge Golden Youth.Marilyn also enjoyed quilting, gardening, cards, bingo and listening to polka music. Family played an important role for Marilyn and she cherished the time spent with them.Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Bill) Connell of Oconomowoc, Norene (Al) Gonring of Lomira, Marjean (Rick) Lerch of Theresa, Marsha (Dan) Roskopf of Mayville, and Annette (Bob) Foshey of Hartland; her grandchildren, Melissa (Jesse) Decker, Dustin Christian (special friend Lizzy), An ( thony (Becky) Christian, Angela (Tim) Hillebrand, Ben Christian, Jody (Jake) Schlafer, Jill (Victor) Connell, Amy (special friend Nick) Curtis, Ryan (Corrine) Lerch, Kyle (Erin) Lerch, Nick (Katey) Roskopf, Jake (Krista) Roskopf, and Eric (Alexandra) Roskopf; her 18 great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Gloria Christian of Mayville; her sister, Darlene Ernisse of Kohlsville; and brother, Delmer Wendegatz of West Bend; further survived by other relatives and friends. David J. Herman, 82, of Mayville passed away on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, at Froedtert Hospital in West Bend.Dave was born the son of Martin and Mary (Krutke) Herman on March 27, 1939, in Mayville.He was a graduate of Mayville High School.Dave served his country honorably in the US Army.Dave was united in marriage to Jeanette Mae Biertzer on October 24, 1959, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Theresa.He was retired from RuMar Manufacturing in Mayville.Dave was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mayville and a member of the Mayville American Legion Post #69.In his spare time, Dave enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and playing bingo. Golf was a great joy for Dave and he enjoyed countless rounds of golf at the Mayville Golf Course with his wife, where he was a longtime member. He will be missed by many.Dave is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeanette ‘Nettie’ of Mayville; his daughter, Jody Lynn Herman of Beaver Dam; his brother, Gene (Bonnie) Herman of Fond du Lac; his brother-in-law, Jerry (Linda Sherman) Biertzer of Mountin; he is further survived by other relatives and many friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Barb and Annie, and three brothers, Martin, Joe, and Franny.A visitation will be held on Monday, Sept. 27, from 12 noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m. at Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville.A memorial service for Dave will take place on Monday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville with Pastor Kenneth L. Sharon Gerndt (nee Resch) passed away September 1, 2021, at the age of 82. Sharon was born December 25, 1938 to Norma (Hansen) and Carl Resch in Menasha. She graduated from Wauwatosa High School in 1956. She married Rudolph Loesl in 1958, and had four children together. She is survived today by her husband whom she married in 2002, James Gerndt. They reside in Mayville. Lovingly remembered by her children Bob (Chris) Loesl, Jerry Loesl, Larry Loesl, and Susan (Dave) Petri; her grandchildren, Jordan, Zachary Loesl, and Will and Emma Petri. She is also survived by many cherished friends and family. Service will be held at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 302 South German Street in Mayville on Friday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m.

Todd Robert Oechsner, 64, of Theresa passed away on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at his home in Theresa. Todd was born the son of Hubert and Pearl (Reklau) Oechsner on October 26, 1956, in Fond du Lac. Todd was a 1974 graduate of Campbellsport High School. He had been employed as a railroad conductor for the CNN Railroad. In his spare time, Todd enjoyed collecting Minneapolis Moline Tractors and Buick cars. He loved the outdoors and loved hunting deer and grouse. Todd is survived by his siblings, Gary Oechsner of Fond du Lac, Dean Oechsner of MN, Glen (Julie) Oechsner of Ashford, and Rita (Jim) Hunt of Kaufman, TX; his nephew, Aron (Amy) Oechsner of Mequon; his nieces, Laura (David) Weber of Beaver Dam, Nicole Oechsner of Fond du Lac, and Amy Oechsner of WI. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and niece, Ginny. A celebration of Todd’s life was held on Saturday, Sept. 11, from 2 to 5 p.m at Rosie’s Restaurant and Bar in Lomira. The family asks that all those in attendance wear a N95 mask. Richard Kornitz

Richard “Dick” Howard Kornitz passed away on September 10, 2021, at the age of 79 after a long and prosperous life. Born on March 11, 1942, in Milwaukee to the late Roland and Freida (Nienhardt) Kornitz, he married Joan (Baumhardt) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eden on February 20, 1965. Dick was a proud veteran who served his country in the U.S. Navy traveling around the world from 1959-1963. It was in the service that he learned the electrical trade, which became his lifetime vocation. He spent 30 years as a Master Electrician with the City of Milwaukee before retiring in 1997.An avid hunter, Dick’s love for the sport began at a young age from experiences with his father and their dogs. In addition to hunting in the State of Wisconsin, he enjoyed big game excursions throughout North America. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, the Eden Good Fellows Rod and Gun Club, as well as a member of the Twin Lakes Protection Association.Dick was also a passionate skier from an early age, teaching his wife, daughters, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews to enjoy the sport. He spent 42 years as a volunteer member of the National Ski Patrol, helping hundreds of injured skiers using his extensive first-aid training.We are sure he is on the first chair on the ski slopes of heaven.He is survived by his wife, Joan; daughters, Kaye (Mark) Kass and Laura Mastropolo. Further survived by grandchildren, Tyler Mastropolo, Abby Kass, Marlea Mastropolo, and Noah Friedenfels; brothersin- law, James (Karen) Baumhardt, John (Janey) Baumhardt, and Jay (Vicky) Baumhard; sister-inlaws, Jane (John) Davis and Sharon Baumhardt; and other nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Sharon; his in-laws, Joe and Jean Baumhardt; and brother-in-law, Jerome Baumhardt.Visitation for Dick will be on Sunday, September 26, starting at 1 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 Co.
