Ethel Kathryn Knoeck (née Walters), age 93, of West Bend passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, with family by her side. She was born on May 28, 1928, to Joseph and Edna Walters. She was born in Chicago and lived there until moving to West Bend with her mother and brother when she was a young child. Along with being a wife and mother, Ethel worked as a library aide for many years sharing her love for books with students in the Kewaskum and West Bend schools.Ethel was a long time member of the “Red Hat Society”. She enjoyed the luncheons and gatherings while sporting her red hat. Around the kitchen farm table, Ethel was known for holding the queen of clubs until the final hand during a game of Sheepshead. As a resident of Cedar Bay Health Care Center, Ethel was comforted by praying the daily rosary. She enjoyed reading mysteries and watching them on PBS, playing bingo (and winning many of the prizes!), singing in the choir, playing the handbells, and tooling around in her wheelchair making sure everyone was doing their job.Ethel met Oscar Knoeck, Sr. one day when he stopped by to deliver milk to her house. They soon fell in love and married on June 30,1948. Richard “Richie” Otto Backhaus, age 86, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021, at the Samaritan in West Bend. He was born on September 28, 1935, in Kewaskum to Herbert and Selma (nee Miller) Backhaus. He is known in West Bend for owning M& R Bar for 41 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting. Sandra “Sandy” L. John, (nee Staab), 81, of Kewaskum found peace with the Lord on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. She was born on June 18, 1940, to the late William and Jean Staab. On October 18, 1958, she was united in marriage to Ronald C. John in Mil - waukee. Sandy was a CNA for many years, and devoted her life helping people. She was a member of the Church Veterans and the Red Suspenders. Sandy and Ron loved traveling and have visited many states. She spent a lot of time in the kitchen cooking and baking, and her breads will be missed. Nancy L. Brodzeller, 82, of West Bend, formerly of Kewaskum, was called home on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk, with her family at her side and her loving husband holding her hand. Nancy was born on Oc tober 16, 1939, in Hartford, the daughter of late Christian and Melinda (nee Krahn) Keller. Nancy graduated from Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac, Class of 1958. On December 5, 1964, she was united in marriage to Harvey Brodzeller at Peace United Church of Christ in Fond du Lac.She was employed at Reiter Podiatry in West Bend where she took good care of Dr. Reiter along with his patients. Nancy was an active member of Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum for 53 years where she was involved in the church choir and served on many committees there. Nancy loved to dance, cook, and entertain for her family and friends. Her great grandchildren and family were the light of her life. Rohn Thomas Bishop, 63, of Waupun, passed away November 10, 2021, after a long battle with Covid.Rohn was born July 13, 1958, in Elgin, IL, the son of Lila and F. Warren Bishop. Rohn grew up with his much loved sister, Sue. He graduated from Lake Park High School, IL, in 1976.Rohn married Mimi Dowling in September 1978. They were married for 18 years and blessed with two sons, Rohn and Tom. In 1998, Rohn married Krista Lynn Dates. They met line dancing in Beaver Dam. Rohn loved to dance.He owned and operated Bishops Car Wash & Detail Center in Waupun from 1978-2021. He took great pride in serving on the Waupun City Council from 1988–1993. During his time on the council, he started the Business Improvement District (BID) and East End Development. He also started development on the business park. Rohn also served as treasurer for both the Waupun Historical Society and the Waupun Downtown Promotions. While involved with the Historical Society Rohn worked on getting the historical plaques for the historic downtown buildings. He started the annual Cemetery Walk in 2015.Rohn and Krista loved motorcycling, taking day long road trips, and exploring the rustic roads of Wisconsin. Rohn loved the Smoky Mountains where he and Krista got married. He greatly enjoyed his grandchildren, singing Christmas carols in church and making Bennett laugh while singing “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”. He adored his time with the grandkids. Rohn loved his Saturday lunches with his son Rohn and spending time with Tom detailing cars in Kewaskum.Rohn was an incredible cook and enjoyed cooking for friends and family. He was a member of the Jaycees, the Freemasons, the Waupun Area Chamber of Commerce, and the International Car Wash Association. If Rohn were still here he’d want you to know “a clean car lasts longer.”Rohn is survived by his wife, Krista (Dates) Bishop; his sons: Rohn (Jennifer) W. Bishop and Thomas (Kristy) F. Bishop; his step-son, Zachariah C. (Kandy) Lewandowski of Texas; five grandchildren: Reagan, Bennett, Bristol, Margaret, and Colette; former wife, Mimi Dowling; and his sister, Susan (Stan) Bishop Szara and their three children.
