Valeria “Val” Mae Goss


 Va­le­ria “Val” Mae Goss passed away peace­fully on Sun­day, March 24, 2024, at The Charleston House in Beaver Dam.   Val was born the daugh­ter of Eric and Martha (Col­lien) Wag­ner on March 4, 1937, in Lomira.   She grad­u­ated from Lomira High School.   Val was united in mar­riage to William Goss on De­cem­ber 7, 1957, in Lomira. After they were mar­ried, the cou­ple moved to Farm­ersville and later to Fox Lake in 2000.    Val was in­volved with many small busi­nesses in the Mayville area.   She was a faith­ful mem­ber of St. Luke’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Knowles. Val was very cre­ative and en­joyed cro­chet­ing, cross-stitch­ing, and quilt­ing. She also en­joyed play­ing bingo. Above all, Val cher­ished and loved her fam­ily and looked for­ward to spend­ing time with them when­ever she could.    Val is sur­vived by her chil­dren, Dale (Deb) Goss, Dan (Pauline) Goss, and David (Judy) Goss; four grand­chil­dren; and six great-grand­chil­dren.   Val was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents; her hus­band, William; son, Duane Goss; sis­ter, Carol Wag­ner; and step-sis­ter, Lav­erne Vill­wock.   A vis­i­ta­tion for Val will take place on Mon­day, April 1, at the Koepsell Fu­neral Home in Mayville from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. A pri­vate fam­ily fu­neral ser­vice will be held with Rev. Matthew Kuske of­fi­ci­at­ing. Evelyn Ella Radschlag


   Eve­lyn Ella Rad­schlag, 93, of Hart­ford, passed away Fri­day, March 15, 2024, after say­ing good­bye to her fam­ily, friends, and staff, where she resided for the last 11 years at the Gar­dens of Hart­ford.   Eve­lyn was born Feb­ru­ary 2, 1931, in Pack­wau­kee, to Ella (nee Baer­wolf) and Au­gust Fredrick.   Eve­lyn at the age of 17 was united in mar­riage to 20-year-old Robert R. Rad­schlag on June 27, 1948, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Neosho. To­gether they en­joyed fish­ing, trav­el­ing, and snow-bird­ing in Ari­zona for nearly eight years.   Eve­lyn was a long­time mem­ber of Peace Lutheran Church in Hart­ford and also a mem­ber of their Ladies Aide for many years. She was on the PTA at Saylesville School. Eve­lyn en­joyed cook­ing, gar­den­ing, and above all else she loved spend­ing time with her fam­ily, chil­dren, and grand­chil­dren. Eve­lyn will be re­mem­bered fondly of her gift to help oth­ers see the lighter side of life.   Eve­lyn is sur­vived by her lov­ing chil­dren, Richard Rad­schlag of Brown Deer, Judy Beilke of Slinger, Bar­bara (Nick) Schi­es­tel of Grass Val­ley, CA, and Robert Rad­schlag of Lu­goff, SC; nine cher­ished grand­chil­dren, and 11 cher­ished great-grand­chil­dren; and dear sis­ter, Norma Funk of Mon­ti­cello.    She was pre­ceded in death by her beloved hus­band of 70 years, Robert; her par­ents; par­ents-in-law, Clara (nee Troeller) and Al­bert Rad­schlag; sib­lings, Elmer Fredrick, Meta Mahnke, Harold Fredrick, Bon­nie (Jim) Wil­son, Ed­ward (Helen) Fredrick, Betty (Howard) Hoeft, and Velma Vick; sis­ter-in-law, Helen (Wilmer) Frank; daugh­ters-in-law, Nicki (nee Hughes) Rad­schlag-De­Mars and Lau­rie (nee Kopi­ness) Rad­schlag; and grand­sons, Troy Allen Rad­schlag and Lee Daniel Rad­schlag.   A pri­vate com­mit­tal ser­vice for Eve­lyn will be held at Pleas­ant Hill Ceme­tery, Hart­ford.   Con­tri­bu­tions in mem­ory of Eve­lyn and her love of chil­dren and an­i­mals are ap­pre­ci­ated to the Wash­ing­ton County Hu­mane So­ci­ety and/or to Peace Lutheran School.   The Shi­mon Fu­neral Home served the fam­ily. Jacqueline “Jackie” Bechert Schiess


   Jacqueline (Jackie) Bechert Schiess, 91, of Mayville, formerly of Horicon, went to her heavenly home on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Crossroads of Mayville.    Jackie was born on March 28, 1932, on the family farm in Horicon to John and Sophia (Belover) Bechert.   Jackie was married to Roger C. Schiess on December 20, 1952. Together they were blessed with 71 years of marriage and made countless wonderful memories with family and friends. Jackie was a longtime member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville.   Jackie attended a one-room school through sixth grade and then attended Horicon Public Schools. After graduation, she attended Dodge County Normal School in Mayville and obtained a teaching certificate.    Jackie then taught grades 1 to 4 at Woodland State Grade School and continued her education at Marian College (University) in Fond du Lac, where she obtained her teacher's degree in education. Jackie then joined her husband at Fort Leonard in Wood, Missouri, while he was stationed there in the Army. Jackie took some time away from teaching to focus on having her daughter, Sheryl. Once they returned to Wisconsin, she worked in Browns Corner teaching 38 students in grades 1 to 8 in a one-room schoolhouse.    She later joined the Mayville School District teaching third grade and continuing her education at UW-Milwaukee. Jackie worked 38 years for the district. Upon her retirement, she went on to substitute for the Mayville District for 11 years.   Jackie was a member of the Dodge County Retired Educators. She was a lifetime member of Wisconsin Retired Educator and a lifetime member of the National Retired Educators.   In Jackie’s spare time, she enjoyed fishing, crocheting, camping, golfing, and dancing. She looked forward to travelling and spending time with her extended family.   Jackie is survived by her husband, Roger, of Mayville; daughter, Sheryl (Randy) Feucht of Mayville; grandchildren, Jason Feucht of Pewaukee and Jeremy (Nicole) Feucht of Mayville; great-grandchildren, Avah, Tristen, and Henley Feucht; siblings-in-law, Jerry (Diane) Moede, Donna (Walter) Bushkie, Loren Moede, and Roy Moede. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.    Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; mother-in-law and father-in-law; two sisters in infancy; sisters, Eunice (Vernon) Mielke, Lucille (Tom) Vorpahl; brother, Hurley (Dorthy) Bechert; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ethel (George) Heinecke, Myrna Michaels, Larry Moede, and Beth Moede. Also preceded in death by nieces and nephews.   A funeral service for Jackie took place on Tuesday, March 12, at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville with the Rev. Dr. Mark G. Cutler officiating. Visitation was held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the church. Interment took place at St. John’s Cemetery in Mayville.   Jackie’s family would like to thank the Mayville EMS, Mayville Police Department, the nurses and doctors especially on the 5th floor at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, Crossroads Care Center of Mayville, Koepsell Funeral Home, and SSM Hospice. Dorothy Anna Zingsheim


   Dorothy Anna Zingsheim, 99, of Theresa, passed away peacefully on February 29, 2024, at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac.   Dorothy was born the daughter of Joseph and Ida (Frings) Weber on October 14, 1924, in the Township of Theresa.   She was united in marriage to Philip Zingsheim on June 24, 1952.   With her husband, Dorothy helped run the family dairy farm.   She was an active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, where she helped with many funeral luncheons and helped make hundreds of patchwork quilts over the years. She was always there to lend a hand and help others. Dorothy’s faith was strong and she loved to pray with and for others in their time of need. In her spare time, she also enjoyed being on the farm and gardening. Dorothy also liked putting together a good puzzle.    Dorothy is survived by her children, Mary (James) Blank of Oshkosh, Robert Zingsheim of Menomonie, and Diane (Perry Backhaus) Zingsheim of Lomira; her grandchildren, Heidi (Kenneth) Backus, James (Jessica) Blank, Ann Zingsheim, and Amy Zingsheim; her great-grandchildren, Mikayla Backus, Payten Blank, and Lorelei Blank; her step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Beulah Zingsheim; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Philip; granddaughter, Jennifer Blank; and her siblings, Olive Steger, Ivan Weber, and Hildegard Thomas.    A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, March 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Theresa with the Rev. Fr. Justin Lopina presiding. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Timothy “Tim” P. Del Ponte


   Timothy “Tim” P. Del Ponte, 72, of Knowles passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, at his home.   He was born on May 25, 1951, to the late Peter and Marian (nee Doll) Del Ponte in Fond du Lac. Tim grew up in Knowles and graduated from Lomira High School. He went on to graduate from MSOE with a BSEE degree.   Tim was self-employed as a cabinet maker, then worked at Western Lime & Cement.   He took care of his mother until she passed away.   Tim was a member of the Knowles Fire Department and St. Andrew’s Church and served as the council president.   He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing horseshoes on a league, and gardening. Tim was a Green Bay Packer, Milwaukee Brewer, and Wisconsin Badger fan. He had a passion for woodworking. Tim had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew him.    Those Tim leaves behind to cherish his memory include his two sisters, Carol (Steve) Krueger and Sally Baier; four brothers, Denis (Suzanne) Del Ponte, Dale (Janice) Del Ponte, Lee (Carol) Del Ponte, and Alan Del Ponte; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends,   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Del Ponte and his brother-in-law, Don Baier.   VISITATION: Tim’s family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, March 16, from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, W3081 County Rd. Sally Lynn Toellner (Buhalag)


   Sally Lynn Toellner, 77, a longtime resident of Mayville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday Feb. 28, 2024, at the Hospice Home for Hope in Fond du Lac.   She was born in Fond du Lac on August 18, 1946, to Florence (Lindert) and Otto Buhalag. She graduated from Mayville High School in 1964. After graduation, she moved to Madison and worked for the DMV for two years.   Moving back to Mayville, she married Donald Toellner on April 28, 1967. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked for nearly 25 years at TAB Products, later for Infinity Plastics, and lastly for Metalcraft of Mayville.   She loved cooking and baking, sewing and many different crafts.    She is survived by her sister, Wendy Giese; daughter, Michelle Toellner (Corey); Michelle’s daughters, Marissa (Joe) Baum and Shelby Toellner (Logan); and great-grandchildren, Malachi and Elijah Baum, and Laken Becker, along with Michael’s son, Jesse Toellner. Sally was also blessed with a loving relationship with her extended family, Ken, David (Fred), and Rick Toellner, Sue Krentz, and Jesse’s family, Kurt and Tina Schrab, Nikolas Giese, and Norma Bell.   Sally was preceeded in death by her parents: father, Otto, in 1983; and mother, Florence, in 1999; husband, Donald, in 1999; and son, Michael in 2019.    A funeral service for Sally took place on Tuesday, March 5, at 1 p.m. at Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville with Rev. Dr. Mark G. Cutler officiating. A visitation was held prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.    Gladys B. Miller, 91, of Mayville passed away peace­fully on Sun­day, Feb. 25, 2024, at Cedar Com­mu­ni­ties in West Bend.    Gladys was born the daugh­ter of George and Adela (Giese) Franke on Jan­u­ary 28, 1933.   She was united in mar­riage to Lyle Miller on May 16, 1953, at Zum Krip­plein Christi Lutheran Church in Town Her­man.   Gladys worked var­i­ous jobs over the years, such as the Mayville Fur­ni­ture Fac­tory for over 18 years and re­tired from Net­tie’s Jew­elry in Mayville. Gladys was the past trea­surer of the VFW Aux­il­iary in Mayville. She was an ac­tive mem­ber of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville. Gladys served her church on the Altar Guild and was a mem­ber of the quil­ter’s group. In her spare time, she en­joyed gam­ing trips and trips up north with her fam­ily and friends.    Gladys is sur­vived her daugh­ters, Bar­bara (Steven) John­son of Wood­inville, WA, and Susan Giese of Slinger; her brother, Mar­vin (Dar­lene) Franke of Mayville; sis­ter-in-law, Betty Miller of Mayville; her grand­chil­dren, Mason (Amanda) Giese, Kris (An­drea) Giese, Kyle John­son, and Blake John­son; her great-grand­chil­dren, Brett and Jaed­lyn; her great-great-grand­daugh­ter, Everly; fur­ther sur­vived by nieces, nephews, other rel­a­tives, and many friends.   She was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents; her hus­band, Lyle; and her sis­ters and broth­ers.   A fu­neral ser­vice for Gladys will take place on Fri­day, March 1, at 3 p.m. at St. John’s Ev. Gerald M. Kreckow

Gerald M. Kreckow


   Gerald M. Kreckow, 86, of Waupun, formerly of Horicon, passed away on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at the Waupun Christian Home in Waupun.   Gerald was born the son of Orin and Ruth (Miller) Kreckow in Horicon on April 9, 1937.   He was a 1955 graduate of Horicon High School and then went on to serve his country honorably in the US Army, serving in the 101st Air Born Division in Fort Campbell, KY, and through the Pacific.   After the Army, Gerald worked for Gardner Manufacturing in Horicon and retired after 45 years.   Gerald was also a talented taxidermist.   He was a longtime member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon. Gerald was also a life long member of the Horicon American Legion Post #157.   Gerald is survived by his son, Derek (Cindy) Kreckow of Columbus; grandchildren, Ashley (Shawn) Sinotte of Lomira and Amber (Travis) Basler of Waupun; great-grandchildren, Briella and Savanna. Further survived by other relatives and friends.   He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-sister, Marlene Rupnow.   A private family funeral will take place at St. Stephen Ev.    With a smile on his face and a song in his heart, Don­ald B. Mayo, 90, Hori­con passed away on Feb­ru­ary 18, 2024, with fam­ily at his side.    Don­ald was born Feb­ru­ary 10, 1934, in West Bend, to Cur­tis and Marie (Jaeger) Mayo. He joined brother, Denis, and later wel­comed sis­ter, Kay (Let­ten­berger) to the fam­ily. He was an ac­tive West Bend com­mu­nity mem­ber and an avid four-sport ath­lete in high school. He orig­i­nally at­tended col­lege on an ath­letic schol­ar­ship, then earned his un­der­grad­u­ate de­gree and be­came a proud alum­nus of Mar­quette Uni­ver­sity. Later he at­tended and earned a grad­u­ate de­gree and com­pleted course­work for his dis­ser­ta­tion in Ed­u­ca­tion and Lead­er­ship Pol­icy at the Uni­ver­sity of Wis­con­sin-Madi­son.   On June 16, 1956, he mar­ried Janet K. Roberts, who had been his sweet­heart since eighth grade, be­gin­ning the next phase of his life. Don­ald and Janet raised five chil­dren, An­drea Macheel (Steve), Melissa (Mar­vin Hansen), Melanie Gre­gory (James), Don­ald Jr/m “D.J.” (Chanz Be­lotin­dos) and Patrick (Mindy Bran­den­stein). He was for­tu­nate and thrilled to have 11 grand­chil­dren and 12 great-grand­chil­dren, and to call Ro­tary Ex­change stu­dents, Ernesto Echev­erri and Ok­sana Pouga, his bonus chil­dren.    Don­ald was a pas­sion­ate ed­u­ca­tor with a ca­reer that spanned more than 40 years in pub­lic ed­u­ca­tion as a teacher, coach, and school ad­min­is­tra­tor in Wilton, Janesville, Mar­shall, and Hori­con, re­tir­ing as Dis­trict Ad­min­is­tra­tor of Hori­con School Dis­trict.    Don­ald was also a life­time Ro­tar­ian and was com­mit­ted to its mis­sion of ser­vice to oth­ers. He filled many lead­er­ship roles at local, dis­trict and in­ter­na­tional lev­els. He found his great­est re­ward in the youth ex­change pro­gram, where he com­bined his ad­vo­cacy for youth and com­mit­ment to mul­ti­cul­tur­al­ism by help­ing young peo­ple see the world through the in­bound and out­bound stu­dent ex­change pro­grams sup­port­ing ed­u­ca­tional travel for thou­sands of stu­dents.    Don­ald loved mak­ing peo­ple laugh, lead­ing most con­ver­sa­tions with a joke or pun and tak­ing ad­van­tage of a good Yogi Berra quote. He en­joyed a good brandy Man­hat­tan, and play­ing golf, bridge and rac­quet­ball and al­ways kept a close eye on the Bucks, Pack­ers, Brew­ers, and Golden Ea­gles. But his fa­vorite pas­time was at­tend­ing the many sport­ing and mu­si­cal ac­tiv­i­ties of his fam­ily mem­bers.   A Mass of Chris­t­ian Bur­ial will take place on Mon­day, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. at Sa­cred Heart Parish in Hori­con with the Rev. Fr. Justin Lop­ina pre­sid­ing. A vis­i­ta­tion will be held on Sun­day, Feb. 25, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Koepsell Fu­neral Home in Hori­con and again on Mon­day, Feb. 26, from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11 a.m. In­ter­ment will take place at St. Malachy Ceme­tery in Hori­con.   Re­mem­ber when you come to a fork in the road, take it.
