Lawrence George Doerfert


 Lawrence George Doerfert of Hustisford passed away unexpectantly from heart failure on January 21, 2022.   He was born at home in the Town of Erin on February 22, 1935, to Felix and Alma Lenz Doerfert. He attended schools in Woodland and Hartford.   On October 18, 1958, he married Jean Rau at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Newburg.   Lawrence farmed all his life near Woodland, maintaining a registered Holstein herd and selling cattle to many parts of the world. In 2005, he moved to Hustisford.   He enjoyed farming, gardening, playing cards, going to farm conventions, traveling, sports, and polka music.   Lawrence is survived by children, David (Jill) Doerfert of Wolfforth, TX, Barbara (Curt) Schellinger of Iron Ridge, Dennis (Gigi) Doerfert of Hustisford, Deborah Doerfert of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Scott Schellinger, Michael, Gia and Danielle Doerfert; brothers-in-law, Glen (Sandy) Rau of Newburg and Alan (Marsha) Rau of Jacksonville, FL, as well as many other relatives and friends.   Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; infant son, Daniel; his parents and parents-in-law, Oscar and Lorraine Rau; brothers, Raymond (Deloris) Doerfert, Willard (Anna Mae) Doerfert; sister, Bernice (Frank) Wiedmeyer; and brother-in-law, Roy Rau.   Visitation was held Saturday, Jan. 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, W2489 Woodland Rd., Woodland.   Funeral service followed at 1 p.m.. Rev. James Castillo officiated. Memorials to St. John’s Church in Woodland would be appreciated.   The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home-Hartford served the family.

Melvin “Cookie” Collien

Melvin “Cookie” Collien


   Melvin “Cookie” Collien, 76, of Mayville passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.Cookie was the youngest of seven children born to Pat and Erna (Meyer) Collien, on April 21, 1944.   He graduated from Mayville High School in 1962.   He was united in holy matrimony on August 6, 1966, to Margaret Ann Elsinger at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy and enjoyed a 43-year marriage with the love of his life. Cookie was selfless and compassionate as he cared for Maggie during her long battle with multiple sclerosis.   While raising their two sons, Scott and Brian, they enjoyed many camping trips, driving across the country on family vacations and countless gatherings with relatives and friends.    He worked for 39 years at Tab Products in shipping and receiving and subsequently retired from Quad/Graphics. However, his most fulfilling job was delivering joy to the children and families of Mayville for over 50 years as Santa Claus. In addition, Cookie was actively involved in the Mayville Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. After spending half a century serving his community, in 2018, Cookie was honored as Mayville Citizen of the year.   Cookie’s joys in life were his family, his grandchildren and the many friends he made along the way. He especially enjoyed a game of sheepshead with friends and blackjack at the casino. His final years were spent with Catherine Kehrmeyer, who was a very special person in his life. The family appreciates Catherine’s kindness, generosity and genuine friendship for Cookie. The family is also grateful for the many friends and healthcare workers that helped Cookie during his life.   Survived by his sons, Scott (Laurell Breslow) Collien and Brian (Amy Hathaway) Collien; grandchildren include Dakota (Mallory) Schrank, Maxwell, Logan, and Avery Collien, Megan Collien, and great-granddaughter, Isabelle Schrank. He is further survived by siblings, Delores Neumeyer and Raymond (Joann) Collien. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.   He was preceded in death by Margaret Collien in 2009; grandson, Keagan; siblings, Helen, Rosie, Edward, and Maxine.   A visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 28, from 9:30 a.m. until Noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville.   A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at Noon with Rev. Father Tom Biersack as Celebrant. Inurnment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Catholic School.   The Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville is serving the family. Dorothy M. Kleemann


   Dorothy M. Kleemann, 80, of Watertown, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, at Park Ridge in Watertown.   Dorothy May Neitzel was born on September 2, 1941, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Roland and Lyla (Breitag) Neitzel. She attended Westline Grade School and was a 1959 graduate of Mayville High School.   On July 25, 1964, she was united in marriage to Roger Kleemann at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Lomira. Roger preceded her in death in 1986.   Dorothy had been employed at Western Industries for over 38 years, retiring in 2006.   She enjoyed dancing, polka music, and playing cards. She loved to travel and go fishing up north.    Dorothy is survived by her sister, Darlene Neitzel of Mayville; brother-in-law, Wayne Braunschweig of Beaver Dam; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Kenneth Neitzel, James Neitzel, and Roy (Betsy) Neitzel; sister, Diane Braunschweig; niece, Michelle Braunschweig; and nephew, Steven Neitzel.   Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon with Rev. Daniel Repp officiating. Burial will take place at Pilgrims Rest in Lebanon. Family and friends may gather at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Linda Marie Troeller


 Linda Marie Troeller, 69 of Hartford, passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022, at the Aurora Medical Center-Hartford.   Linda was born June 14, 1952, in Hartford, to Lucille R. (Christian) and Erwin R. Troeller.   She lived on dairy farm near Rubicon from 1952 to 1966 and moved to Hartford in 1966 with her family. She attended Hartford High School, where she enjoyed cheerleading. She graduated class of 1970.   She was united in marriage to Joseph Weber in Hartford, and they resided in Jackson, Mississippi as well in Marietta, Georgia. Joe preceded her in death and ultimately Linda moved back home to Hartford, and worked at Hardee’s in town for a couple of years. She spent much of her adult life trying to recover from a horrific car accident that occurred in Jackson, MS.   Linda found love again and was united in marriage to Gregory L. Gnerlich. She will be fondly remembered by her love of butterflies, constructing center pieces and decorations, and the pride she had in her beautiful penmanship.    Linda is survived by her loving brothers, Stanley E. (Mariann) Troeller of Oceanview, Hawaii and Charles W. (Marlene “Becky”) Troeller of East Saint Paul, Manitoba Canada; dear nephews, Ryan C. (also Linda’s Godson), Adam J., and Luke E. Troeller. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.   She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin R. and Lucille R. Troeller; sister, Carol Jean Troeller; and husbands, Joe Weber and Gregory L. Gnerlich.   Linda loved her mother dearly and they were very close throughout their lives, her inurnment will take place privately at Pleasant Hill Cemetery where she will be placed near her mother, on her parents plots.   Linda’s family will coordinate a celebration of her life, Summer 2022.    The Shimon Funeral Home is assisting the family. Terrence William Grimes

 Ter­rence William Michael Grimes, 79, passed away peace­fully on De­cem­ber 15, 2021, with his wife, Judy, by his side.   Terry was born on No­vem­ber 17, 1942, in Chicago, IL, the son of Patrick William Grimes and Inez Schmidt.   Terry was a real en­tre­pre­neur. He learned tool and die skills while in the Navy and started a tool and die fa­cil­ity in Iron Ridge, in the 1970s and also started up a tree stand com­pany.   Terry was an avid sports­man. He en­joyed snow ski­ing, hunt­ing, fish­ing, mo­tor­cy­cle rac­ing, and fly­ing his air­plane. He was a world trav­eler with a large en­gag­ing per­son­al­ity and a great joy for liv­ing. He will be greatly missed.   He has five sur­viv­ing sib­lings, Pa­tri­cia Louise Grimes, Louis Charles Grimes, Char­lene Marie Grimes, Den­nis Edwin Grimes, and Brian Frances Grimes. He has two daugh­ters, Cass Grimes and Re­becca Scharph; his son, TJ Grimes; and a step-daugh­ter, Taya. He en­joyed many grand­chil­dren.   He was pre­ceded in death by his brother, Michael Grimes.   There will be a Cel­e­bra­tion of Life for Terry on Sun­day, Jan­u­ary 23, at Mayville Golf Course on 325 S. Ger­man St. Mayville, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Theodore Walter Loehrke

Theodore Walter Loehrke


   Theodore Walter Loehrke (Ted) died unexpectedly on Monday, Jan. 10, 2022. He was 69 years old.    Ted was born August 26, 1952, in Beaver Dam, to his parents, Gordon and Delores (Muche) Loehrke. He was baptized at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Theresa and confirmed there in May of 1964. Ted, at the time known as Turk, graduated from Lomira High School in 1970 and then completed the Automotive Servicing Program at Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac.    He applied the skills learned first as a mechanic in the family business and then at area companies as a machinist and millwright. Ted was employed for over 30 years by Quad Graphics in Lomira, retiring in 2005.    Raised in and around the family auto repair business, Ted always had an interest in vehicles. As a young man he was attracted to fast cars but as he grew older his interest changed to motorcycles. Ted rode a motorcycle for most of his life and would typically log thousands of miles each Wisconsin summer.    In 2000, he met the love of his life and motorcycle partner, Peggy Willoughby. They were married December 14, 2001.    In addition to riding motorcycles, Ted had many interests. For many years he played guitar and steel guitar for multiple country music bands. He was an avid and accomplished woodworker, crafting furniture for family members. Ted also enjoyed photography and regularly spent time with a camera and Mother Nature.    Ted had a passion for target shooting. As a young man, he was a member of the family trap shooting team and was in a weekly league with his father and brothers. Over time, his interest changed to rifles, and he excelled at long range (1000 and 1200 yard) target events. He was an active member of the West Bend Barton Shooting Club and enjoyed spending time on the range and with friends at the Club. He was particularly proud of winning a state title in long range target shooting.    Although Ted was passionate about many interests, he was most passionate about time with family. For Ted and Peggy, family was a priority. He spent many a weekend playing with grandchildren, reading them stories, and just being an available grandpa. He cherished family get togethers with his son, siblings, aunts, and uncles.    He is survived by his wife, Peggy; son, Jason (Mel) Loehrke, step-son, Jason Fairweather; grandchildren, Brittany Nicole Giese (Elena), Allie Jo Fairweather (Alec), Makinzi Lee Fairweather (Doug), Rilee Marie Fairweather; and a great-grand-daughter, Layla Marie Wheaton; siblings, Kristine (Mark) Groh, John (Marie) Loehrke, David (Barb) Loehrke, and Tim (Rose) Loehrke; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends; and Jason’s mother, Chris.    Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Delores Loehrke; and Peggy’s daughter, Kimberley.    The family extends its heart-felt gratitude to the staff and many friends at Ascension Lutheran Church in Fond du lac for their prayers, care, friendship, and support, and also to the staff at St Agnes Hospital who cared for Ted during his final days.    There will be a Christian Funeral and Service of Celebration for Ted at Ascension Lutheran Church in spring when temperatures have warmed, and the surge has hopefully subsided.    Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville is serving the family. Martha Ellen Goodman

Martha Ellen Goodman


   Martha Ellen Goodman, 69, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2022, at Edenbrook Nursing Home in Fond du Lac.   Martha was born the daughter of Robert L. and Joan A. (Shepard) Zuelsdorf on March 31, 1952, in New York City.   She was united in marriage to Royal D. Goodman on October 22, 1977.   She was a 1971 graduate of Horicon High School. Martha then graduated from Moraine Park Technical College with an LPN degree in 1972 and then again in 1991 with and RN degree. Most of her nursing took place at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.   In her spare time, Martha enjoyed reading, walking, sewing, and listening to oldies. Her true passion was spending quality time with her daughters and grandchildren.   Martha is survived by her daughters, Erin (Travis) Weber of Kaukana and Sara Bartels of Fond du Lac; her grandchildren, Caleb Goodman, Nolan, Gavin, and Hannah Bartels of Fond du Lac; her six sisters and three brothers, Mike Zuelsdorf of Madison, Gayle Goodman of Madison, Kathy (Dan) Shea of Watertown, Janet (Kenneth) Buresch of Beaver Dam, Sue Siravo of Watertown, Lisa (Dan) Porten of Markesan, Tim (Jackie) Zuelsdorf of Horicon, Don (Becky) Zuelsdorf of West Bend, and Anne Christian of North Fond du Lac; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Daniel Zuelsdorf; her niece, Elizabeth Zuelsdorf; and her cousins, Scott Zuelsdorf, Mark Zuelsdorf, and Ward Zuelsdorf.   A memorial gathering in memory of Martha will take place on Friday, Jan. 21, from 12-2 p.m. at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Horicon.
