Schultz, 66, of Juneau was Born to Eternal Life on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019. He was born on December 15, 1952, the son of Robert and Genevieve (Schwantes) Schultz. Chuck was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was the kind of guy who would do anything for anyone if you asked for a helping hand. He was a devoted family man, a loving husband, father, and brother, and he adored his grandchildren and grand puppies, Stella and Eddie. Chuck worked for the Dodge County Highway Department for 39 years. After retirement, he worked for the City of Juneau, part-time, for the past eight years. Chuck will be deeply missed by his family and the friends who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Maertz); his children, Melissa (Dan) Oestreich of Juneau, Jackie Schultz of Juneau, Matt (Sara) of Columbus, and Brooke Justice. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren, Nathan Oestreich, Abigayle Oestreich, and Landon Schultz; his brothers and sisters, Tom Schultz of AZ, Sue (Harv) Marten of PA, Kay (Michael) Peters of Beaver Dam, Linda (Larry) Hafenstein of Juneau, and Ann (Blaine) Krentz of Green Bay. He battled with dementia and congestive heart failure for the past five years, but always had a smile on his face and enjoyed time shared with his family. John was born on August 2, 1944, to John E. and Carma V. (Woodruff) Mason in Rochester, MN. He graduated from Lourdes High School in Rochester, MN. John went on to receive his Bachelors Degree from St. Mary’s University in 1966 and his Masters from Winona State University in 1973, both in Winona, MN. John married the love of his life, Anita (Korish) Mason on June 7, 1969. John was a loving, kind, generous and giving man who always put others first. John had a lifelong career in education. He started his career working as a teacher and then moved into the principal role in the Sparta School District until 1979. Continuing his passion for education, John served as the Superintendent of Schools in the Lomira School District for the next 25 years. During this time, he also enjoyed coaching Legion and Youth baseball. He went on to serve as superintendent of the Herman School District until 2016. John always made himself visible to every child and wanted them to be successful. He was a mentor to so many students and cared for their well-being. He would greet the children by name as they exited off the busses and would not enter school until the last child had done so. His care and concern for others always showed through his actions. He had a way of making everyone feel special. John made Lomira a great place to grow up and live to so many in the community. He received the Citizen of the Year award in 2002. John received the Advocate for Children award in 2005. John served on the Board of Directors for the Lomira Area Education Enrichment Foundation, the Wisconsin Educational Foundation Network, MPTC, Public Libraries for Lomira, Theresa and Brownsville, Dodge County Agriculture Education Extension Committee and Land Conservation Committee. He was also passionate about being a member of the Lomira Lions Club for the past 40 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira and served in various capacities. He faithfully attended church weekly and was a part of the Parish Council. Throughout his life, John’s top priority was always his family. Whether that was attending any sporting event and cheering on his grandchildren, taking the boys to get haircuts on Saturday mornings, once a month at Joseph Anthony’s or the numerous trips to McDonald’s together, family came first. John also took delight in cheering on the Wisconsin sports teams. He would always be the first one to arrive at a Brewer game so therefore he could be the first one out of the stadium parking lot. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Anita of Lomira; his children, Bryon (Tammy) of Beaver Dam, Paul (Carie) of Grafton, Kathryn (Kevin) Steers of Lomira and Kimberly (Jason) Meisenheimer of Fond du Lac; his 11 grandchildren, Brittany, Mackenzie, Mitchell, Hannah, Michaela, Austin, Benjamin, Alexander, Eagen, Isabella and Connor. He is further survived by his brothers, Thomas (JoAnn) Mason, Timothy (Cathy) Mason, Charles Mason (special friend Lana) and sister, Susan Hoel (special friend John), many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and life-long friends. He was preceded in death by his son, William John; his parents; grandparents; mother-in-law, father-in-law; and a nephew, Anthony Hoel. Carita Hoffman, 83, formerly of Horicon, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, in Lisbon, IA. Carita Ilene was born, the fifth of six children, on January 24, 1936, in Ames, IA, to Warren and Fern (Cross) Zenor. She graduated from Ames High School in 1954. After graduation, Carita worked for Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company in Ames. She met Jack Hoffman while he was a student at Iowa State College, and they were married on March 24, 1956. After Jack’s college graduation, they moved to Moline. Carita became the first “Kelly Girl” hired in the Quad City area. She worked while Jack served his time in the Army and until the birth of their first child. In 1967 they moved with their four children from Moline to Horicon. Carita was a stay-at-home mom, her most cherished accomplishment. She volunteered for several community organizations. One of her most satisfying experiences was tutoring students within the Horicon School District. She served as chairman of the Horicon Blood Drive for several years, and was a Den Mother and a Girl Scout Leader. Carita was a member of the Marsh Hens Homemakers Club, Horicon Education Foundation, Parent’s Advisory Council, and the Horicon Garden Club. When Jack retired from Deere & Company, they traveled extensively in their antique cars throughout all 48 continental United States. Carita is survived by her husband, Jack; children, Diane (Tim) Legore of Mount Vernon, Jack (Julie) of Oconomowoc, Susan (Leigh) Jenison of Sussex, and Scott (Cathy) of West Bend; brother, Norman (Mary Lou) Zenor; sister, Avonell Simpson; brother-in-law, David (Loretta) Hoffman; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He had fallen and fractured his hip near his Largo, FL home on October 20. Bob was born on September 4, 1930, in Springfield, IL to Walter Parkin and Rose Alice (Coe) Binney. He spent three years as a sergeant in the Marine Corps and served in Korea. Shortly after locating to Mayville, he met the love of his life, Marian Mae Bogenschneider.  They wed in 1956, and raised their two children in Brownsville. Bob was a hard worker and good provider.  He spent the majority of his working years as a carpenter, and in sales management for Na-Churs Plant Food Co. Bob enjoyed traveling with his family and wife, and was very active in the Lutheran Church until his passing. Bob used his handyman skills in making their longtime rural Brownsville acreage into an idyllic home; an oasis that was regularly enjoyed by family and many friends. Bob is survived by his son Michael of Grapevine, TX, and his daughter Kay Janssen (Peter) of Wichita.  He was preceded in death by his father, mother, his lone sibling Walter Jr., and wife Marian (1992). Robert Giles Personius, son of Veronica and Giles Personius and father to Janet Lynn (Hanks), David Giles, Stephen Francis, Timothy Lee and Mark, grandfather to Margaret, Mei Lei, Robert, Ross, DeeAnna, Forest, Hans and Hjelle, great-grandfather to Thomas, Michael and Maximus, moved on from this life surrounded by family, music and love on November 17, 2019. Born in Valley City, ND, in 1922, and later moving to Bismarck where he graduated from high school, Robert (Bob) enjoyed hunting, fishing and exploring the rivers, marshes and prairies of North Dakota. After serving in combat in World War II in the 104th Infantry Division in France, Belgium and Germany, and earning a Bronze Star, Robert earned a B.S. degree in wildlife management at Oregon State University where he met and married Mary Dolores “Dee” Brown. Bob then earned a M.S. in Fisheries degree at the University of Minnesota where he and Dee started a family. Bob never abandoned his life-long love of conservation biology. He dedicated his career to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service including stints in Washington DC, as assistant refuge manager for Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge in Illinois, refuge manager for the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge in Wisconsin and refuge manager for the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge in California. Bob’s landmark work in wildlife management left an indelible impression upon his family with dinner time visits from conservation greats such as George Archibald and Fran Hamerstrom. Bob often recalled his favorite memories from his federal service as those during the ten years their family lived in the old farmhouse on the edge of the marsh in Horicon National Wildlife Refuge in Wisconsin. After retiring from federal service, Bob settled in Anacortes, WA, with Dee in 1989 and built their dream house overlooking Puget Sound. Dee passed away in 1997, but Bob was fortunate to meet a second remarkable woman in Ermalinda Guzman while visiting a decoy show in California. They married on November 27, 1999, and continued to enjoy the Anacortes area often spotted at garage sales, the library, music, theatre and dining venues in the area. Bob was a lifelong decoy collector and duck hunter who loved to make an annual fall hunting pilgrimage with his sons and a few high school buddies to the Prairie Pothole region of North Dakota and Canada. Bob bestowed upon his children a love of the outdoors, literature, conservation, science and art. He loved sharing a cold wind-swept duck blind, fishing boat, or mountain hike to an alpine lake with friends and family. He loved to sing, had a quick wit, and was always known and loved as a “character.” He was blessed in later years with a growing family of grandchildren and great grandchildren and passed along to them a rich history of memories of his life and times. Robert is survived by his second wife of 20 years, Ermalinda; his sister, Eileen (Walen) and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered in their hearts and minds for his love of the outdoors, conservation, science and the arts. A Rosary Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial and then a reception at St. Mary Catholic Church in Anacortes, WA. Military honors will be presented at the service. She worked in the Dodge County 4-H Extension Office and also farmed with her husband in rural Mayville. Carolyn was an active member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church and served on the Ladies Aid and quilters group. She was a lifelong leader and volunteer in Dodge County 4-H. She was also involved in the Dodge County Homemakers and quilters group. Carolyn was also active in the Dodge County Antique Power Club with her husband In her spare time, Carolyn enjoyed gardening, canning, tending to her flowers, and sewing. She also loved to travel to antique shows. Sandy loved to cook and bake, but most of all she was a loving mother and will be deeply missed. Rosemary enjoyed playing cards and board games, tending to her garden, bird watching and attending the grandchildren’s events.
