Theresa was a bustling village of 450-plus people after the Civil War. Theresa was on a dirt road from Milwaukee through Lomira then onto Fond du Lac-Green Bay, hence there was a fair amount of traffic that came through the town patronizing its several hotels, saloons and other businesses.
One thing it did not have was a railroad passing through it.
